Rescue

Rescued by firefighters, who were trying to put out the devastating wildfire that occurred on Sheet’s Heath Common in Woking on Saturday, this male grass snake, had been unable to escape the blaze, without help.

Rehabilitation

Suffering with wounds around his body and a prolapse of one of his hemipenes (not something our vets see every day), vet, Raul, had the task of cleaning the wounds and reducing the prolapse, with the help of lubrication. With the fire believed to be deliberately set, we fear for the animals that weren’t so lucky to have been found and for the now displaced grass snake, that has had his home cruelly destroyed in the middle of his mating season.

The Sites of Special Scientific Interest are precious habitats for our already struggling wildlife, so the loss of any results in disastrous consequences, please be kind to our habitats, as well as our wildlife, these environments are hundreds of years in the making but destroyed in a split second.
