Rescue
Meet Captain Jack… proof you don’t need two eyes to see.
Jack was brought to us late one evening, dehydrated and with his left eye swollen shut. Our vets flushed and cleaned the eye and gave him fluids, warmth and food for the night.
Rehabilitation
The following day, we noticed Jack was very snotty, his eye still swollen shut and crackles in his breathing could be heard through a stethoscope.
Over the next few days, Jack didn’t improve. He was still unwell, snotty, refused food, and his eye, sadly, deteriorated further.
Our vets then made the difficult decision to remove the eye.
But, the surgery couldn’t have gone better! Jack’s eye was carefully removed and the wound sutured, leaving him with a really impressive scar.
His pirate-like look made our team unable to resist the temptation of calling him Captain Jack to celebrate his fearlessness and resilience!
Release
Whilst he recovers from surgery, Jack is currently receiving home care. His eye is healing extremely well and he is due back with us here at the hospital very soon.
When he arrives, he will be carefully introduced and paired with other cubs to play, learn and, no doubt, show off his legendary scar.
