Rescue

Cat attacks are something we see far too often here at Wildlife Aid. Luckily for this tiny mole, escape was an option.

After being found collapsed with the culprit nearby, this little guy was thankful to make it out alive.

Rehabilitation

Rushed to WAF to be examined by our vets, they immediately got to work assessing him for injuries. To everyone’s surprise, this little fighter had escaped with only minor wounds and was, thankfully, just a little shaken.

Our team then administered medication and fluids to help his recovery before scheduling him for release the very next day!

Release

When it was time for release, he didn’t waste a second. He immediately began digging his way back underground, as though nothing had ever happened. Here’s hoping he stays out of trouble this time!

Cat attacks are one of the most common reasons for admission here and whilst we understand predation is a natural behaviour for cats, there are simple ways we can help reduce its impact on wildlife. Fitting cats with a breakaway collar and bell can provide birds and other small animals with an early warning, giving them a greater chance of escaping safely.
