Rescue

This little fox is Roxy, and this was not her first time visiting WAF.

When Roxy arrived at here at the hospital (the first time), she had a noticeable head tilt, a worrying sign that something wasn’t right.

A head tilt is often caused by an infection or parasite affecting the inner ear or central nervous system. Left untreated, it can lead to permanent neurological damage, leaving fox unable to survive in the wild.

Poor Roxy was struggling to keep her balance and unable to walk. But, after a thorough examination, our team found a tiny grass seed, lodged deep inside her right ear canal, causing a severe infection.

Rehabilitation

So, they acted quickly, carefully removing the grass seed and giving her the antibiotics she needed to fight the infection. Once she received the all-clear she was released shortly after.

So, when she returned to WAF not even a month later, our team was shocked to find that she had gotten herself into even more trouble!

However, this time it wasn’t a head tilt, but a large and painful and painful wound on her lip. The injury was so severe that it had to be carefully sutured back into place by our amazing vet, Harry.

Release

Thankfully, though, Roxy recovered well from the ordeal. She is an incredibly curious, cheeky fox, who loved to sit on her shelf, always interested in the world around her. We’re sure that her curiosity is how she ended back here, in the first place!

Once our team were happy with her recovery, Roxy was released back into the wild, where she ran off to cause all kinds of mischief!
