Fox adoption
The red fox is one of the UK’s most iconic species. Sadly, 70% of wild foxes do not make their first birthday, and an estimated 100,000 foxes are killed on UK roads, every year.
Many other foxes fall victim to litter and netting, in which they get entangled.
WAF rescues hundreds of foxes, every year. Some are able to be released immediately, where they have been found, and others will remain in our care until they make a full recovery.
This work is only possible due to the public support we receive. Your fox adoption will help rescue, rehabilitate, and release more wild foxes.
What’s included in your fox adoption pack
Not only will you be providing invaluable care and helping countless animals, but you will also receive an exclusive fox adoption pack, including cuddly toy, species brochure, certificate of adoption, photo and more. NOTE: The pack will include either 'The Owl with the Golden Heart' book or 'Wildlife SOS' book, dependent on stock.
How your adoption will help
The red fox is one of just a few of the UK’s last remaining apex predators, and, is one of England’s most loved mammal species. It is estimated that there are 350,000 foxes living in the UK. Whilst urban populations have grown since the 1990’s, there has been an overall decline in populations by 48% since 1995.
Foxes are one of the more frequent patients at WAF, and we can receive up to 600 at our centre in any given year. We often receive callouts to foxes that have been injured, have got themselves trapped, are unwell (quite often with mange) or are orphaned. Where possible, we will release the fox on-site, but should they require further treatment and care, they will receive this at our centre until they are strong enough to return to the wild.
Your adoption will help us to continue to look after the many foxes that come through our doors, each year.
