Rescue

Isn't this the most adorable thing you've seen today?!

This tiny little creature is a young stoat kit, and he arrived in our care after being found by a dog on the side of a path. Although still responsive, he was dehydrated and had fly eggs covering his neck.

Rehabilitation

Once safely under our care, the eggs were removed and he began a course of warming and gentle rehydration.

Luckily, this worked wonders and, now, you'd never know it was the same stoat! Now cared for by our Hospital Manager, Alannah, he is already eating solids and is putting on weight like it's going out of fashion!

UPDATE - May 15th 2023

Many of you have been asking for an update on our little stoat kit, and we're pleased to say he's making great progress!

Still eating us out of house, home and anything else beginning with 'h', he has just started to open his eyes for the first time. As with any orphaned animal, it's now vital that he is raised with his own kind to allow him to learn behaviours vital for survival in the wild... watch this space... 👀
