Rescue

The constant peeping now filling one of our avian quarantine units means that the duckling season has now started!

Unfortunately for these six young mallards, their mother laid her eggs on a balcony, hatched them and then left, leaving them abandoned. Sadly, despite attempts she did not return to them and we were forced to take them into care.

Rehabilitation

Luckily, they were free from injuries, but were still far too young to survive by themselves. Now growing up in one of our avian quarantine units, they are settling in well and will, hopefully, be released once they are fully grown!
