Rescue

This poor young fox had been through so much in his short life.

He was found collapsed and in a great deal of pain. When brought to our hospital, he was extremely weak on arrival; his face was cut, his back leg stiff and his toes fractured.

He’d been hit by a car. But, not only this, shockingly, x-rays revealed an old bullet lodged beneath the skin in his chest. Someone had shot him.

He had endured so much suffering.

Rehabilitation

Thanks to our wonderful vet, Judith, he was given safety, warmth and medicine to help with the pain. Judith then carefully bandaged his leg so he could rest and begin recovery.

For the time being, he was out of harm’s way.

During his stay with us, he received regular checks to assess how he was healing. And within just 48 hours, he looked like a completely different fox! He was much brighter and you could see in his eyes just how much better he felt after receiving the emergency treatment he so desperately needed.

After a couple of weeks in our care, the wounds on his face had healed, and he soon started removing his bandage himself. Luckily, by then, the swelling in his leg and toes had gone down, and he was finally able to use his foot again!

Release

This boy is due for release in the coming days. He has been a wonderful patient to treat, and we wish him good luck on his future endeavours.

Life in the wild is never without risk, but for wildlife living alongside people, those risks are often multiplied. This fox has already endured more than any animal should have to, yet he continues to fight.

These animals deserve our protection, not cruelty.

Luckily for this fox, we were able to help him when he needed it the most. But many foxes like him still need our support. If you would like to help us help them, please, consider adopting a fox today.
